The Bainbridge Island Aquatic Center is a certified American Red Cross Provider. We follow the highest standards when providing classes. All courses are designed and implemented to provide the necessary content for procuring and maintaining American Red Cross certifications, including lifeguarding, water safety instructor, CPR, AED, First Aid, and many other courses.

Babysitting

Babysitter Training

Learn safety skills, age-appropriate activities, and games, how to handle infants and toddlers, and build your business from the ground up! Those ages 11 and up can receive specialized training and an American Red Cross Certification.

CPR / AED / First Aid

Adult/Child & Pediatric CPR/AED & First Aid Class

Each student will be provided online learning and then come to the Aquatic Center to practice skills in an in-person format. Spaces for the in-person design will be limited to three students who will be provided their own CPR Manikin, AED, and first aid equipment during the class.

Our Lifeguard Instructors are fully certified by the American Red Cross, meaning you’ll receive a nationally recognized course that will equip you with the essential knowledge and skills to become a lifeguard. Our innovative teaching approach combines online learning with hands-on activities and lectures, making it easy to fit our courses around your busy schedule. And with professional-level training in breathing, cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses, you’ll be fully prepared to respond to any aquatic emergency with confidence. Lifeguard & Waterpark Lifeguard

LifeguardsThrough a blended learning style course, you will learn skills to gain employment as a lifeguard in a waterpark or pool setting. You must be 15 years old and pass a swimming skills assessment. Skill assessments will be given before the first day of the in-person class to set up a Skill assessment you can email Jenetter@biparks.org.

Lifeguard Instructor Course

Through a blended learning style class, learn to teach a lifeguard course from beginning to end. You must be 17 years old and possess a current lifeguard certification. Skill assessment and polish will be completed in the first class. Due to the nature of this course, teaching assignments will be delivered two weeks before the class, and registration will be closed without instructor approval.

Water Safety

Water Safety for Swim Coaches

Through a blended learning style class, you will learn skills to gain the basic water safety skills required of a swim coach for USA Swimming. Coaches must finish the online portion before the skill session with our certified American Red Cross Instructor. Online course fee with USA Swimming not included

Water Safety Instructor Course (WSI)

The Bainbridge Island Aquatic Center, Water Safety Instructor Trainer, will provide participants with information and skills through a blended learning style course. The American Red Cross WSI program aims to teach people to be safe in and around water while teaching individuals of various swimming abilities. Participants will gain the skills to teach parent and child courses, preschool aquatics, Learn-to-Swim, and adult swim courses, in addition to safety courses. Our course is a blended learning course that will include online learning, in-person skills, lecture, and activities that enable the entire course material to be delivered to each student in multiple ways and is easier for the busy learner!

Once Certified, instructors are eligible to teach the following courses:

  • Water Safety Today
  • Basic Water Rescue
  • Personal Water Safety
  • Safety Training for Swim Coaches

Pre-requisites:

  • Water Safety Instructor candidates must be 16 years old on or before the last day of the course.
  • Candidates must be able to swim at a Learn-to-Swim level 4 skill level.
